Reserve/Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff Insurance

Accidental Death & Dismemberment + Medical Expense

Protection for those who protect us.

Even when precautions are taken, accidents can still happen. Reliable insurance protection in the event of a life-altering accident is essential, especially for reserve and auxiliary law enforcement personnel who may not be covered under workers’ compensation.

An Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Accident Medical benefit (ADD+Me) offers some of this protection to reserve and auxiliary deputy sheriffs for a covered injury, paralysis or death resulting from a covered accident while on-duty.

What are the benefits?

If a reserve/auxiliary law enforcement officer is injured while on-duty, the policy pays a lump sum for accidental loss of life, limb, sight, speech or hearing. In addition, the policy will also pay (up to the policy limit) the cost of treating an accidental injury.

  • Bereavement and Trauma Benefit

  • Child Care Center Benefit

  • Coma Benefit

  • Disability Benefit (Temporary Total Disability)

    • Max Benefit Period: 52 Weeks

    • Weekly Benefit Amount: $300

  • Emergency Medical Benefit

  • Emergency Medical Evacuation Benefit

  • Home Alteration and Vehicle Modification Benefit

  • Rehabilitation Benefit

  • Seatbelt and Airbag Benefit

  • Special Education Benefit

The following examples are real claims in which a reserve or auxiliary deputy sustained injuries, and incurred thousands of dollars in medical expenses that were not covered under workers' compensation.

  1. Hydroplaned a patrol vehicle into a private residence.

  2. Patrol car was involved in a head-on collision.

  3. Stepped on a sharp object, puncturing tactical boot, while in foot pursuit.

In each of the examples, the reserve or auxiliary deputy took advantage of the insurance policy and received a benefit for the medical expenses incurred.
